Responsibilities

The Safety Specialist in West Point, PA supports specific project needs by ensuring best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and helps enhance a culture of safety. Oversee excavation and underground utility activities at a high-profile operational facility while ensuring compliance with OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements.

  • Oversee excavation and trenching activities onsite
  • Ensure compliance with excavation safety standards, permits, and safe work practices
  • Conduct daily safety audits, inspections, and field observations
  • Monitor high-risk construction activities and contractor compliance
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning
  • Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety documentation
  • Work closely with project management, field supervision, and subcontractors to maintain a safe work environment
  • Support additional overtime or extended coverage as project needs require

Qualifications

  • Strong excavation and trenching safety experience required
  • OSHA 3015 Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics training required
  • OSHA 510 highly preferred
  • Experience overseeing underground utility or civil construction activities preferred
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate excavation-related hazards required
  • Strong communication and field presence required
